The following instructions are for
lining and caring for your 25-bar flat soap mold.
|
1.
Trim a piece of wax paper or
butcher paper
to fit the width of the mold ( 11.25 inches).

2.
Place it smoothly against the sides and
bottom, creasing with your fingertips, and secure with push
pins. (If you don’t wipe or wash your mold between batches,
the slight oil residue on the inner surfaces will make the
paper adhere to the sides better.) |
|
|
3. Place two more
overlapping pieces of paper, in the opposite direction,
smoothing the paper
flat against the sides and bottom. |
|
|
4.
Secure them with push pins on all four sides. |
|
|
5. Pour traced soap into your lined
mold. |
|
|
6. Before cutting your hardened soap,
slit the wax paper through the cutter guide slots to prevent
bunching of the paper (which could dent or mar the surface
of the soap). |
|
Clean your mold by scraping off any soap that stuck to it and
wiping it with a wet rag. You should not submerse the mold in water
as it could make the wood swell. After every fifth batch,
lightly oil all surfaces that contact the soap with castor oil and
this mold should give you years of soap-making pleasure! |
